In DBO, you upgrade by fighting and completing quests. You can also pay the trainer NPCs to learn new skills. But that's not over! You still have to assign skill points for your favorite skills before you can use them fluently.

In the village, there're all kinds of merchant NPCs, who deal with weapons, armors, potions and food, besides, NPCs who deal with vehicles and even scouters can also be found there.

Weapons and armors wear out over time, you have to pay the weapon/armor merchant NPCs to repair them. When your character is defeated by enemies, the weapons and armors will wear down as a penalty. After several times, there will be a warning at the bottom of the screen reminding you to repair the weapons and armors and that's the right time to find the weapon/armor NPC to get them fixed.

Sometimes, you'll get some items with "?" mark, then you have to take them to a certain NPC and have them identified by the NPC, who can also endue equipment with new attributes.

There're scooters, which can flow in the air, for the players to ride on as vehicles. The scooters consume fuel, which is in round shape. At the bottom of the scooter, you'll find some slots where you can put the round-shape fuel. Bring plenty of fuel with you as it's cheap and thus you don't have to buy it constantly. (The NPC who deals with vehicles also sells fuel.)

First introduced in the Freezer chapter of the original, the scouter, with which you can calculate the individual power level of your rival, is now a widespread item. Every character is created with a scouter. Inlaid with other parts, a scouter can give you more data besides your rival's power level. The scouter will upgrade with the character. You can also buy new scouters with more slots and better performance, to replace the old one.
